Artist Application

The Kona Palisades Artists consists of a hui (collection) of quality artists living in the Kona Palisades area, or very nearby.  Currently we host one two-day Fall Tour annually, and often a one-day event in the spring. As we grow and the membership changes, we strive to maintain the high quality of art being displayed at our events and to have a variety of mediums shown.  We welcome professional artists in Kona Palisades who will also contribute to organizing, publicizing, and promoting our events. We seek artists who will conduct themselves with respect and courtesy within the group as well as the community.  We want artists who would like to join a community of artists who support  each other and celebrate each other’s successes. All participants of Kona Palisades Artists events must have a GET tax number and are personally responsible for the collection and payment of all taxes legally required by the state of Hawaii.

Kona Palisades Artists has two levels of participation, member artists and guest artists. Member artists have a home within the Tour region, agree to host a Tour stop, and fully participate in Tour business and meetings. Member artists are on probation the first year. Following a successful Tour participation, the artist will be invited to be a full member artist. Guest artists are local Big Island artists who live outside our region and show at a member's studio and are limited to showing once every three years.

To this end, our application process is as follows:

  • Interested artists should attend one of our events, take the whole tour and introduce themselves to the membership to find out a bit more about us and the commitment you are considering.

  • Complete the application below.

  • The leaders will then arrange a time to come by your site to review the full breadth of your work.  They will also want to see your studio/workspace and the area in which you are considering as your display area. These steps help us see the quality of your work, how your location fits within the flow of the tour, and to determine if it is feasible for another artist to also show at your space.

  • As we begin planning for the November event, usually in July, each member makes a commitment as to whether he or she will be participating at the next event, so we know how many spaces to plan for.

  • The information from all applications will be discussed by the membership and the group will determine how many and which applicants will be invited to join the group for that season’s event.

  • After the group decides, you will be notified of our decision. If accepted we will provide a schedule for our next planning meeting, an event schedule and when payment of dues is required. If the next event is already full you may be added to a waiting list for a future event.

  • All new member artists and guest artists are required to contribute a $100 event fee that helps to pay expenses such as advertising, signage, printing, postage, etc.
